Caseload and Caseflow Management
Court Caseload
Trial courts submit (through MCAP) annual caseload reports as required by MCR 8.103(7) and MCR 8.110(C)(1). Part 1 of the Caseload Reporting System (CRS) includes reports of beginning pending caseload, new case filings, and reopened cases. Part 2 includes reports of cases disposed and cases made inactive. Part 4 includes pending case age and case age at disposition reports. Data collection instruments, instructions, technical assistance, and recent communications are available through MCAP to authorized users of CRS. Caseload reports are due by January 30 and verification is due by February 28. Statistical reports using caseload data are available on the web.
Delay in Criminal Proceedings
Circuit, district, and municipal judges submit through their chief judge quarterly delay in criminal proceedings reports as required by MCR 8.110(C)(5). Courts submit these reports through the Michigan Court Application Portal (MCAP). These reports are due January 7, April 7, July 7, and October 7. Court administrators who wish to designate another person as an authorized user for the Delay in Criminal Proceedings (DCP) system should do so through the User Maintenance application on MCAP.
