On June 17, 1968, legislation took effect creating Michigan’s district courts. To mark this milestone, the State Court Administrative Office is encouraging district courts statewide to celebrate the 50th anniversary of these important courts that are closest to the people.  Resources are posted on a special 50th anniversary website: www.courts.mi.gov/mdja50

In particular, you will find on the page a list of the
original 149 district court judges along with some biographical points about each (if we could find the information).

Another highlight is
Judge Sandy Elden’s history of the first 20 years of the Michigan District Judges Association.
