Trial courts receive weekly notification of new information and requirements that are relevant to court operations through Recent Communications.  Information is posted every Thursday and can be accessed in Past Communications.  If materials are no longer available on this site, make requests to the State Court Administrative Office at tcs-info@courts.mi.gov.

​The FY 2014 Michigan Drug Court Grant Program and Michigan Drug Court Grant Program-Planning Grant applications are now posted on WebGrants.  The funding opportunity is open for applications until June 21, 2013.  In order to submit an application, an individual from your court must register to create an account on the WebGrants system.  To register, go to http://micourts.dullestech.net.

​On October 17, 2012, Governor Snyder signed Public Act 338, which amends the statutes pertaining to concurrent jurisdiction.

By March 1, 2013, each judicial circuit without an existing concurrent jurisdiction plan must report to the state court administrator whether they intend to develop a plan or report the results of the vote not to adopt a concurrent jurisdiction plan.  Objections shall also be filed by that date.

Courts developing a concurrent jurisdiction plan must submit a timeline for the submission of their proposed plan to the state court administrator by July 1, 2013.

All plans must be submitted by January 1, 2014, unless exempted by the state court administrator.

These amendments incorporate provisions of the newly enacted Michigan Indian Family Preservation Act within the various court rules relating to child protective proceedings and juvenile status offenses.

2012-01 - Proposed Amendment of Rule 2.302 of the Michigan Court Rules
Would clarify that discovery-only depositions may be taken only by stipulation or court order and would require that the stipulation or order explain how the costs of this type of deposition are to be allocated; also proposal makes minor technical changes.

Proposal would codify state and federal statutory and regulation revisions that have occurred in the last decade and would add specificity to existing language found in this court rule.

​2013-12 - Proposed Amendment of Rule 7.313 of the Michigan Court Rules
Would clarify that a decision whether to grant rehearing or reconsideration in the Michigan Supreme Court should be made consistent with the standard in MCR 2.119[F][3], similar to consideration of such motions in the Court of Appeals, found in MCR 7.215[I][1].

​2005-11 - Amendments of Canons 2, 4, 5, and 7 of the Code of Judicial Conduct and Amendment of Rule 8.2 of the Michigan Rules of Professional Conduct
Revisions of the Canons attempt to provide consistency regarding law-related and nonlaw-related extrajudicial activities in which judges may participate, and clarify the activities that are allowed or prohibited; the revision of MRPC 8.2, which applies to lawyers, reflects that the judicial canons that are applicable to judicial candidates are set out in new Canon 5.

2012-06 - Proposed Amendment of Rule 9.221 of the Michigan Court Rules
Would add new subrule [I] that would require the JTC to notify a court's chief judge if a referee or magistrate is subject to a corrective action that does not rise to level of a formal complaint, including a letter of caution, a conditional dismissal, etc.; the new requirement would not apply to a dismissal with explanation.
