Cases Awaiting Argument

New Feature: The Court of Appeals opinions are now linked to the cases for easier reference.

The list below identifies those cases in which the Court has granted the leave application or has ordered a mini-oral argument on the application ("MOAA") but which have not yet been argued at a session of the Court.  Once scheduled for argument, the cases will be removed from this page and included on the Schedule of Oral Arguments page. Attorneys whose cases appear on this page should immediately notify the Clerk's Office in writing of vacation plans or other commitments that might conflict with the Court's argument dates.  Although providing a timely notice of conflict is no guarantee that the case will not be scheduled for argument, every effort will be made to accommodate the attorney's vacation or commitment.

The "LG" or "MOAA" in the left-hand column denotes whether the case is on leave granted or to be argued on the application, respectively.  The leave granted or MOAA orders can be accessed by clicking on the "LG" or "MOAA" designation for a case. The right-hand column contains links to those pleadings filed to-date (attachments to the pleadings are not included). The pleadings in support of or opposition to a leave application are included for cases in which the briefs are yet to be filed.  As the briefs are filed, they will be added to the right-hand column and the links to the application materials will be removed. For MOAAs, the leave application materials will remain linked even when supplemental pleadings are filed per the direction of the Court.

Parties and amici curiae are required to file their briefs within the deadlines specified in the Michigan Court Rules. See MCR 7.312(E) & (H). Motions to extend time should be filed in advance of the filing deadlines and will be granted only upon a showing of good cause. MCR 7.316(B).

The list can be sorted in ascending or descending order by order date and docket number. Click on the arrow to the right of the order date and docket number headings to select the desired sort order. NOTE: Only the first 30 cases are listed on this page.  If there are more than 30 cases awaiting oral argument, click on the right-facing arrow at the bottom of the screen to open the next page of cases.
