Procedural Manuals
The State Court Administrative Office publishes procedural manuals for court reporters and recorders, district court magistrates, and district court probation officers. Other procedural manuals available to the courts are benchbooks and monographs published by the Michigan Judicial Institute.
This manual provides court reporters and recorders with information on their role in the trial courts, certification requirements, reporting and recording proceedings, transcript format, furnishing transcripts, and appellate procedures. Selected court rules and statutes are also provided. This manual is updated quarterly in January, April, July, and October.
This manual provides district court magistrates with guidance on the warrant process, bond and bail procedures, misdemeanor criminal and felony criminal matters, civil infraction/traffic cases, state and civil municipal infractions, and small claims matters. This manual is updated annually in May.
